What’s Past is Prologue

Sherri L. Smith and I have been busy this spring visiting Canterbury (me), writing itineraries and designing forms and a website (Sherri), and calling and emailing tour guides, buses, hotels, restaurants and historic sites (both of us) as we look forward to our October 2026 World War II workshop event in Kent. We decided that it would be fun to share ahead of time some of our research tips and techniques.
With this in mind, we’re planning to run a live Historical Fiction Q&A session via Zoom on 2 June 2026 at 12:00 noon Pacific / 1:00 pm Mountain / 2:00 pm Central / 3:00 pm Eastern / 8:00 pm British time. We’ll show off artifacts, give you a sample writing prompt, and you can ask us anything!
There’s no charge and you don’t have to have signed up for the tour to join the call. But we hope it sparks some interest in joining our tour!
To join our Zoom call on 2 June 2026, register in advance here:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Over the next couple of months, we’re also going to make some blog posts on different aspects of our research, reading, and writing. Sign up here to receive updates: https://elizabethwein.com/newsletter/
